Small Equine dentistry Roger Cole DVM has been a practicing vet for over 30 years. For the last 11 years he has specialized exclusively in equine dentistry. He is well known for his clinics and his instructional video on RFD TV. Cindy Coffman assists Dr. Cole and asks many pertinent questions about minis and ponies. Dr. Cole explains about equine dentistry in great detail during this 2 DVD set that is over 2 hours long. Using a horse skull he teaches us the anatomy of the horses head and the mechanics of how they chew and process their food. He explains each set of teeth and their specific aging patterns. He also covers why Miniature horses have bumps and when you should worry about having their caps removed. Cindy has brought three of her horses to be worked on by Dr. Cole. Hoof Care Denise
Capps has been a Farrier for over 20 years. She is certified with the
American Farrier Association and has continued her education throughout
the years. She works with all types of horses and has extensive
knowledge of Miniatures and Ponies. Cindy Coffman adds her own questions
and concerns while visiting with Denise during the DVD.
Denise
goes into great depth on trimming your mini and pony in this 2 DVD set
with over two and a half hours of hoof care information. Denise details
the anatomy of the hoof and explains proper angles and measurements. She
shows you how to analyze and measure the hoof. She explains the
different Farrier tools and how to use them properly. You can work right
along with her as you trim your horses hooves. Denise talks about
everything from nutrition to founder.
She
shows three styles of trimming: broodmare and/or pasture horse, halter
horse and driving horse. Every horse must be analyzed to determine what
their particular needs are and how best to address them. Denise details

A Clean Start How to Bath your Horse Cindy Coffman does an excellent job of teaching you how to bath and care for your mini in this 67 minute instructional DVD. She covers: necessary and useful bathing products from brushes and tools to shampoos and coat enhancers, bathing techniques, tail braiding and good coat conditioning. Cindy passes along many special tips to save time and money while still giving a great bath. See both a recently clipped dark mini and a white mini straight out of the field as examples. You are shown step by step as each of these horses are properly bathed and their coats conditioned, an absolute must before clipping. Clipping For Show These DVDs continue with the clean conditioned horses shown in "A Clean Start". Learning how to properly clip your miniature or pony is a must. Most small equine need to be clipped in the spring because they do not shed like larger equine breeds do. Cindy Coffman uses a show horse and a pasture horse to properly demonstrate clipping techniques and skills from start to finish. During clipping she instructs you on which size blades to use and how to properly blend from one blade size to another, eliminating clip marks and lines.
